The Wordy Weekend pop-up might not appear automatically when you open the game. If it does not, you can tap on the “Events” icon on the Home screen to make the pop-up appear.
In case you do not see the “Events” button, make sure the 'Date & Time' settings on your device are correct (preferably set to 'Automatic').
